BRAND

Vetements is a fashion brand that was founded in 2014 by Georgian fashion designer Demna Gvasalia. Headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland, Vetements has gained significant attention in the fashion industry with its unique approach to design and unconventional inspirations. The brand is known for creating a wide range of menswear and womenswear that draws inspiration from everyday fashion and regular people. Vetements rose to prominence with its Spring/Summer 2016 collection, featuring the iconic yellow DHL t-shirt, which became a must-have item and established the brand as a major player in contemporary street fashion. Despite founder Demna Gvasalia's move to Balenciaga, Vetements continues to thrive with a loyal fanbase.

HISTORY

Vetements has achieved notable milestones throughout its history, including collaborations with renowned brands such as Reebok, DHL, Umbro, Tommy Hilfiger, and Juicy Couture. These collaborations have further elevated Vetements' profile and expanded its reach. The brand's fashion shows, often featuring unconventional casting and inspirations from various subcultures, have garnered significant attention and captivated audiences. Vetements' influence extends to pop culture and celebrities, with notable figures like Rihanna, Kanye West, Kendall Jenner, Rita Ora, and Celine Dion frequently seen wearing Vetements' clothing. These collaborations, fashion shows, and celebrity acclaim have solidified Vetements' position as a highly influential and sought-after brand in the fashion industry.

DESIGNER

Demna Gvasalia, the founder and designer of Vetements, is a Georgian fashion designer who graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He started his career as a womenswear designer at Maison Martin Margiela and later worked as the head designer for Louis Vuitton's womenswear. In 2014, Gvasalia launched his own label, Vetements, which quickly gained recognition for its unique designs and avant-garde approach. Many of Vetements' popular pieces pay homage to the work of Martin Margiela, with reconstructed denim, asymmetrical shirting, and hand-drawn doodles reminiscent of Margiela's aesthetic. Despite the brand's commercial reinterpretation of the Margiela ethos, Vetements continues to be a leading voice in contemporary fashion.
