BRAND

ECKHAUS LATTA is a renowned American fashion label founded in 2011 by Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta. With a shared background in Sculpture and Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design, they bring a unique artistic perspective to their fashion creations. ECKHAUS LATTA operates between studios in Los Angeles and New York City, blending the vibrant influences of both cities into their designs. ECKHAUS LATTA's avant-garde approach has positioned them as trailblazers in the underground fashion scene of New York City. Their unique fashion-week experiences have transformed the once-exclusive and commercial fashion landscape. Their unisex designs and experimental fashion shows, often bordering on performance art, challenge societal norms and redefine self-image, body image, gender identity, and color.

HISTORY

ECKHAUS LATTA made its mark by presenting two collections annually during New York Fashion Week, using it as a platform to explore innovative casting, installation formats, and the role of performance in fashion. The brand challenges the established structure of the industry, and collaboration is a fundamental aspect of their creative practice. They have partnered with artists on various projects encompassing fashion, jewelry, performance, and audiovisual mediums. Noteworthy collaborations include footwear collections with Nike and Camper Together. ECKHAUS LATTA has also exhibited their projects, videos, and collections at prestigious art institutions worldwide, such as the 55th Venice Biennale, KraupaTuskany Zeidler Gallery in Berlin, Gavin Brown's Enterprise in NYC, The New Museum in NYC, The Museum of Art and Design in NYC, Galerie Isabella Bortolozzi in Berlin, MOCA in LA, MoMA PS1 in NYC, and The Hammer Museum in LA.

DESIGNER

After graduating in 2010, Mike Eckhaus gained experience designing men's accessories at Marc by Marc Jacobs. Meanwhile, Zoe Latta established her own textile company, working on print and knitwear designs for esteemed brands like Proenza Schouler, Calvin Klein, Opening Ceremony, and Marc Jacobs. Mike Eckhaus further honed his skills in the studios of artist Matthew Barney and fashion collective Three As Four, while also teaching at the Pratt Institute. Zoe Latta, on the other hand, was a fellow at The Ratti Textile Center at the Metropolitan Museum and taught at the Rhode Island School of Design.
